Field Experiments

Our most recent field experiments were run at the Grenzhof site near Heidelberg. This was a largely undisturbed grassland transformed from agriculture in 2002. It was equipped with a weather station and several TDR- and temperature profiles.

In earlier years, we contributed to the setup of several soil-weather monitoring stations at permafrost sites on Svalbard and on the Tibetan Plateau. They are now operated by cooperation partners, the Alfred-Wegener Institute (AWI), Potsdam, Germany, and the Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources (NIEER), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou, China, respectively.
